Holes by Louis Sachar

Holes by Louis Sachar is an awesome book!!! If anyone is looking for something good to read before the summer ends, you should give this book a try. I am a slow reader, but I read this book in like two days. It's an atypical story about a kid that gets in trouble for a crime that he didn't mean to commit. Then, he's sent to this bizarre camp where they dig holes to build character. It's really interesting to see who this self-conscious, bullied boy becomes, and what happens between him and the juevenile delinquent boys at the camp. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I would love to see how well it portrays the movie. I've heard it does a pretty good job of doing so. I'd also love to see who plays the cold-hearted Warden. Please let me know what you guys think about the book and/or the movie. Thanks!

Comments:
When I read "he gets in trouble for a crime he didn't mean to commit," it reminded me of another story we read in the Blogger Book Club: Doing Time Online. (I can't link to the discussion here, but you can click on the title in the sidebar on the left to see what it was all about) Mitchell also gets in trouble for a crime he didn't mean to commit. Seems like this happens alot...especially to kids. Mitchell's punishment really seemed to fit the crime...digging holes, just seems, well, weird! I'll have to read it.

I read this book a while ago, but I still love it... Louis Sachar rocks. I have read the Wayside School books a billion times, even though they're kinda young for me. Anyone who hasn't should.
