Regarding the Fountain and Regarding the Sink
I have finished Regarding the Fountian and Regarding the Sink both written by Kate Klise and illustrated by M. Sarah Klise. What fun these two books were! Both stories are presented in letters, faxes, emails and pictures. Both have a mystery to be solved by a classroom of students - first by a fifth grade class in Regarding the Fountain, the second in Regarding the Sink by the same class the next school year.
Water, and its availability, is at the heart of both mysteries. The bad guys are politicians and business persons. The kids outsmart the adults for a couple of very interesting endings. It's good to know the fine art of writing letters survives, even in these fictional settings. I recommend both titles as good reading. I'm looking forward to the next installment: Regarding the Trees: A Splintered Saga Rooted in Secrets.
