Summer Reading @Wiggin Memorial Library, Stratham NH

Hard to believe but next week we kick off the summer read with a magic show. Our theme this year provided by New Hampshire Children's Librarians (CHILIS) is "Treasure Reading!" There's lots of pirate stories to be had.

Summer favorites include fairies and pirates.

Sid Fleischman's "The Giant Rat of Sumatra or Pirates Galore": a cabin boy plucked from the sea, finds himself aboard a notorious pirate ship. It is only the beginning of his adventures.

Author A.D. Tarbox will be visiting the library this summer. She has two new books to share. One is a young child's bedtime story. The second book, "The Spanish Pirate" has caught the eye of our 4/5th grade boys. Nicolas Costa, the Spanish pirate, has returned home to Spain. "He's back and planning something big!" First, he is looking for someone. That someone is James, the son of Dr. Navarro.

Flying off the shelves are the Daisy Meadows "Rainbow Fairies Series". If you haven't found something for a 2nd grade girl to read, these will be a perfect fit!

Other favorites are found on Walmart shelves: Disney's Pirates of the Carribbean, Jack Sparrow series and Disney's four new fairy stories. Certainly fun summer reads. AARGH!
