Deep and Dark and Dangerous, by Mary Downing Hahn

Deep and Dark and Dangerous
Thirteen year old Ali finds a photograph of her mother and her Aunt as children. There was a third person in the photo, but most of that part of the photograph is torn. Who is the third person in the photogragh that has been torn out?
Ali feels that she has the summer to find out who the missing person is.

Ali is asked by her Aunt Dulcie to go to Maine with her and her four year old daughter. When Ali asks her mom if she could go her mom is adament that she not go. Her mother will not give an explanation as to why she can't go to Maine. Ali then tries to get her father to talk to her mom about going with her aunt. Her father has many discussions with her mom and Aunt Dulcie. Her father finally told her that she could go for the summer.

When they arrrive at the cottage where Ali's mom and her aunt used to spend their summer vacations; Ali and her cousin Emma check out their rooms and discuss all the fun things that they will do doing during their vacation. Even though Ali is years oldr than Emma, they have a special bond, that is until Sissy comes into their lives.
Sissy is mean and spiteful and mysterious. When Sissy is around she tries to get
Emma away from Ali. Why is she doing this? What can Sissy be up to, and who is this mysterious child?


This book was AMAZING. It was full of suspense, action, and horror.
