Blood on the River James Town 1607 Elisa Carbone

Blood on the River : James Town, 1607
Samuel Collier was an orphan living on the streets, when his life took an unexpected turn. He could not believe his good fortune that landed him on the "Susan Constant" bound for the New World, page to Captain John Smith. He soon realizes that the New World is not what he had imagined.

The Virgina shore is lush and beautiful but impossible to know who is friend or foe. The winter is very harsh and brings starvation to many. They will have to find new ways that will work in this new land. Samuel is eager and ready to learn. (Caudill Nominee 2009)

Comments:
Very realistic look at the legends we have all heard and read regarding the James Town colony. Better than any Disney story about Captain Smith and Pocohantas.
