A Beginning, a Muddle, and an End by Avi

A Beginning, a Muddle, and an End by Avi is a cute and funny story. It follows the adventures of Avon Snail and Edward Ant as Avon decides he wants to be a writer. They discover that writing is actually much harder than it originally seemed. After Edward suggests that Avon just write something, Avon writes "Something." This is one of the many examples of the strange but fun logic found throughout the book.
What makes this book so amusing to read are the constant plays on words. The use of homophones has never been so much fun! In just about every other sentence, a word or phrase is taken out of context and used to create a new and very different idea. This leads to some very crazy philosophical conclusions on writing and on life. Throughout it all, Edward and Avon are there for each other through all of life's ups and downs (which lead the friends to quite a few entertaining conversations).
