The Thing About Georgie by Lisa Graff

The Thing About Georgie
Georgie had a thing about poodles, hated to walk them. Not exactly good since dog walking was his way to earn money. The thing about Georgie was he was small, really small. Dwarf size actually, so different from everyone in his class, most of the time Georgie never thought about it.

The thing about Jeanie the Meanie, she was really mean. She loved to tease Georgie, saying things like..."Georgie Porgie puddin' and pie, too bad you're only two feet high". Arrrg! Then, when they are supposed to do their school assignment she would rather write on her shoe! Georgie just thought that she was crazy. But was she???

The thing was, on top of all that, Georgie's Mom was having another baby. Would it grow to be larger than Georgie? Would he be the "little" big brother? Would his parents love him the same, if the normal baby was a star musician? Georgie has a million questions, that only he can discover the answers and continue to enjoy his life as a "little" person.

Rebecca Caudill Nominee 2010
You must read it to know what happens to Georgie, Jeanie and all the characters in the book.
