Daniel Corrigan moves to a new town because his family goes to help care for his very sick grandmother. It is the small town of Noble's Green, Pennsylvania. It isn't too long before Daniel finds out that the children of this town have super powers. One child saves his life; another saves his brother. There are four rules. The first rule is to use your power to help - never hurt. The second rule is that there are two places that are off-limits. The third rule is that that super powers end at age thirteen. The fourth rule is don't ever let grown-ups know. Daniel puts his detective skills to use. His new friends will lose their super powers unless he uses his own brain power to help them.
This book is unique because of its tribute to comic books. It starts out at a slow pace, but watch out and hold on. This book is a combination of mystery, adventure and fantasy. It nicely explores the issues of sacrifice, coming-of-age and heroism - a very powerful book!
