Count Me In by Sara Leach
Twelve year old Tabitha is not having a good school year. She is teased at school and doesn't have many friends. She dreads going to school each and every day.
Her parents think that sending her on a hiking trip with her cousins Ashley and Cedar and her Aunt Tess will help her, however Tabitha is less than thrilled. She never felt close to her cousins and she is not much of a hiker. Tabitha felt hurt and angry that they would do this to her.
The trip starts out poorly with her cousins making fun of her hiking skills. Later things get worse when the weather turns stormy, a bear happens to be outside their cabin, Tabitha takes her cousins dog for a walk and he gets lost in the fog and both Ashley and her Aunt Tess are hurt. Ashley starts blaming Tabitha for all their problems and Tabitha just doesn't know how to help fix everything that is happening.
Later Tabitha finds that she is a much stronger and braver person that she was when they fist started this trip. Even when she returns to school her experiences from this trip help her face the adversity that she previously experienced.
This is truly a suspenseful adventure book that is hard to put down. I highly recommend it
