Stick Dog by Tom Watson

Stick DogStick Dog and his doggy friends – Poo Poo, Karen, Mutt, and Stripes, are strays living in a suburban park. One day they detect the aroma of grilling hamburgers (yum) and decide that they must have them, no matter the cost. This crazy group of friends gets unfocused many times throughout their “hamburger mission” (squirrels and garbage cans cause quite the distraction) but somehow their ludicrous set of plans results in tasty success. I got all excited when I saw this book because I met the author, Tom Watson a few months ago at an authors' breakfast where he talked about this book. The book is a humorous read for boys in Grades 3-5. The book features oversized text, frequent carton illustrations, all printed on what appears to be notebook paper. It’s a great match for reluctant readers who will forget they are reading as they laugh at all the humor. If you are a fan of Diary of a Wimpy Kid or Big Nate, this is a book for you.
