If You Lived Here: Houses of the World by Giles Laroche

If You Lived HereAnyone four years of age or older can appreciate something from this book  This non-fiction makes you think creatively for adapting to different environments or the possibilities of designing homes. It also helps you open up to different worlds and empathize. Anyone needing an informational text will enjoy "fascinating facts" on each type of house. I was familiar with "yurt". To be honest, I did not know the names of some of the houses. How interesting! This book is unique because the houses span the globe as well as time. It's like time-travel and adventure all in one book.

The cut-paper collages are a perfect match for this text.  Giles Laroche is the illustrator who also did What's Inside and A Road Might Lead to Anywhere and more.  I am more than excited that this non-fiction book is nominated for the 2015 Bluestem Award.
